Your first journey to Cambodia, but in a truly unconventional way. A route that reimagines the country’s essential destinations to immerse you in its majestic heritage, gastronomy, and vibrant local life far beyond the classic itinerary.
For the traveler seeking a wilder, more remote Cambodia. A true adventure off the beaten path, exploring the imposing Cardamom Mountains, lush tropical jungles, and the spectacular coastlines of the country’s south.
No compromises. No limits. Cambodia for travelers who expect much more than five-star hotels. An intimate journey combining the extraordinary heritage of Angkor with immersive nature, refined gastronomy, and the country’s most exceptional properties.
Unlike Vietnam, Cambodia’s climate is much more uniform across the country, governed by the tropical rhythm of the dry and wet seasons. Here is the seasonal breakdown to help you choose your ideal time:
Main draw: Clear days and bright skies. It is the ideal time for those seeking tropical heat or wishing to end their trip relaxing in the luxury resorts of the southern islands (such as Koh Rong or Krabey Island).
Keep in mind: Temperatures reach their peak (especially in April). To maintain the excellence of the experience, our Travel Designers orchestrate temple visits early in the morning, reserving the afternoons for relaxation by your hotel pool.
Key dates: Chaul Chnam Thmey (Khmer New Year) in mid-April. An explosion of local joy where the streets are filled with celebrations and water purification rituals.
Main draw: Known as the “Green Season.” The landscapes flourish, the immense moats of Angkor fill with water reflecting the temples, and the majestic Tonlé Sap lake regains its splendor. Furthermore, you will enjoy much greater privacy and exclusivity with fewer travelers around.
Keep in mind: It is the rainy season. However, these are rarely grey days, but rather intense, predictable tropical showers (usually in the afternoon) that cool the air and leave spectacular light for photography.
Key dates: It is a time of profound spiritual tranquility and great activity in the rice paddies, ideal for contemplative retreats and observing authentic rural Cambodian life.
Main draw: The perfect transition. From late October and November, the rains retreat, but the country maintains the emerald green of summer, and the rivers are at their highest level, making boat excursions unbeatable.
Keep in mind: September still belongs to the wet season. By November, the climate becomes ideal, and with it, the demand for boutique and high-end accommodations rises rapidly.
Key dates: The spectacular Bon Om Touk (Water Festival) in November. Phnom Penh and Siem Reap come alive with vibrant, colorful traditional boat races to celebrate the reversing current of the Tonlé Sap river.
Main draw: The most sublime weather conditions. Completely clear skies, bright sunshine, and very pleasant temperatures. It is the perfect time to explore the archaeological complexes without enduring suffocating heat.
Keep in mind: This is the absolute peak season in Cambodia. To guarantee privacy, avoid crowds, and secure the best suites in the country, planning well in advance is essential.
Key dates: Although not local holidays, the luxury resorts in our collection host private galas and extraordinary dinners under the stars to celebrate Christmas and the Western New Year.
True luxury lies in the privilege of experiencing the unrepeatable. That is why, at Further Asia, we do not offer fixed itineraries, but blank canvases designed exclusively for you.
